How we picked: we looked for turn-based aiming, destructible maps and a sense of humour, and gave extra points to games with pets, collecting, Wild Ones-style currencies and online play.

#1Wild Wars
- Top pick
- Free
- Pets
- Out now
The closest thing to logging back into Wild Ones: cartoon pets, turn-based shots, coins and treats.
Wild Wars is a free-to-play, turn-based pet battle game built by developers who grew up playing Wild Ones. When Playdom switched Wild Ones off in 2013, nothing quite replaced it. Wild Wars was made to fill that gap, and of every game on this list it is the one that feels most like the original.
You pick a pet, build a weapon loadout and take turns blasting rivals across destructible maps. Each pet has its own personality and abilities, and weapons level up from basic grenades to screen-shaking nukes. Just like Wild Ones, you earn coins by playing and use treats as the premium currency.
#2Wild Ones Battle Stadium
- Unofficial remake
- Free
- Active
An unofficial remake that copies the Wild Ones look closely, on PC and phones.
Wild Ones Battle Stadium is an unofficial fan remake that borrows the name, pets and style of the original Wild Ones. It launched free on Steam on 25 December 2024 and is also on Google Play (listed simply as "Wild Ones") and the App Store.
Unofficial: not affiliated with Playdom or Disney.

Wild Ones Evolution is an unofficial remake by Kaido Indie Studio. Its website shows classic Wild Ones maps such as Lab Rats and Sink or Swim, and its Steam page lists it as free to play and "coming soon".
Unofficial: not affiliated with Playdom or Disney.
#4Wormix
- Mobile
- Free
- Active
It grew up on social networks at the same time as Wild Ones, with cartoon fighters, hats and upgrades.
Wormix began life on social networks around the same time as Wild Ones, and the two feel like cousins: small cartoon fighters, turn-based shots, wacky weapons, hats and a progression system that keeps you coming back.
#5Worms W.M.D
- Paid
- Classic
- Active
Wild Ones was openly inspired by Worms. W.M.D is the best-looking modern entry.
When Wild Ones first appeared in 2009, Adweek described it as, for all intents and purposes, Worms 2. Worms W.M.D is the series at its most polished: hand-drawn destructible maps, turn-based team battles and a ridiculous arsenal that includes the Banana Bomb, Holy Hand Grenade and Concrete Donkey.
#6Worms Armageddon
- Paid
- Classic
- Active
The original formula Wild Ones borrowed. It still has an active community.
Worms Armageddon came out in 1999 and is still one of the best artillery games ever made. Its community has kept it alive with fan-made updates, and it remains a cheap buy on Steam.
#7ShellShock Live
- Paid
- Online
- Active
The online-first, level-up-and-unlock loop that Wild Ones players loved.
ShellShock Live is an online artillery game where tanks take turns lobbing shots across destructible terrain. You earn XP to unlock a huge list of weapons, which is a very similar feeling to levelling up in Wild Ones.
#8Hedgewars
- Free
- Pets
- Active
Completely free, with cute animals in hats blowing each other up.
Hedgewars is a free, open-source take on the Worms formula, starring pink cartoon hedgehogs. Like Wild Ones it leans into cute animals, hats and absurd weapons.
#9Pocket Tanks
- Free
- Classic
- Active
Pure angle-and-power aiming with a very long list of weapons.
Pocket Tanks has been around since 2001 and keeps artillery simple: set your angle, set your power, and watch your shot arc across the screen. The fun is in the weapon packs, with hundreds of wacky options to unlock.
#10GunboundM
- Free
- Online
- Active
Team battles online with angle-and-power shots, like Wild Ones' busiest rooms.
GunBound was one of the biggest online artillery games of the 2000s, and GunboundM brings it back as a free-to-play game on Steam. You pick a "mobile" (a quirky tank), then take turns firing at the other team.
#11Bowmasters
- Mobile
- Free
- Active
Bite-sized turn-based aiming with a goofy cast and lots to unlock.
Bowmasters strips the Wild Ones formula down to one-on-one duels: aim, release, and try to hit your rival before they hit you. A huge cast of silly characters, each with its own weapon, keeps it fun.
#12Tank Stars
- Mobile
- Free
- Active
Online turn-based battles on destructible hills, right on your phone.
Tank Stars is a free mobile game where you take turns firing at an opponent across destructible hills. It has online PvP, lots of tanks and weapons to collect, and short matches.
