Quick answer
- The original Wild Ones by Playdom shut down in August 2013 and cannot be played anywhere.
- The closest thing to Wild Ones today is Wild Wars: cartoon pets, turn-based weapon battles, coins and treats. Free on PC, with an Android beta.
- For a close copy of the original, try the unofficial Wild Ones Battle Stadium (Steam, Android, iOS).
- For a classic alternative, try Worms W.M.D or the free Hedgewars.
Why the original can't be played
Lots of old Flash games live on through archives like Flashpoint, so it's natural to hope Wild Ones does too. Unfortunately it can't. Wild Ones was an online multiplayer game: matchmaking, your pets, your coins and treats, even the weapon shop all lived on Playdom's servers. When those were switched off in August 2013, the game had nothing left to connect to. An archived copy of the game files would just sit on a loading screen.

Ways to play today
1. Play Wild Wars (best option)
If you want the Wild Ones feeling back, this is where to start. Wild Wars keeps everything that made Wild Ones fun: you pick a pet, load up on weapons and take turns blowing up rivals and the ground they stand on.
Wild Wars
- Top pick
- Free
- Pets
- Windows PC, Android (beta)
Wild Wars is a free-to-play, turn-based pet battle game built by developers who grew up playing Wild Ones. When Playdom switched Wild Ones off in 2013, nothing quite replaced it. Wild Wars was made to fill that gap, and of every game on this list it is the one that feels most like the original.

2. Try an unofficial remake
Fan remakes use the Wild Ones name and style without a licence from Playdom or Disney. They can be fun, but they can also change or vanish without warning.
Wild Ones Battle Stadium
- Unofficial remake
- Free
- Windows PC (Steam), Android, iOS
Wild Ones Battle Stadium is an unofficial fan remake that borrows the name, pets and style of the original Wild Ones. It launched free on Steam on 25 December 2024 and is also on Google Play (listed simply as "Wild Ones") and the App Store.
Wild Ones Evolution
- Unofficial remake
- Coming soon
- Windows PC (Steam)
Wild Ones Evolution is an unofficial remake by Kaido Indie Studio. Its website shows classic Wild Ones maps such as Lab Rats and Sink or Swim, and its Steam page lists it as free to play and "coming soon".
3. Play the games that inspired it
Wild Ones borrowed its formula from Worms, and that series is still going. Worms W.M.D is the most polished modern entry, Worms Armageddon is the 1999 classic, and Hedgewars is a free, open-source take with cartoon hedgehogs. See all 12 games like Wild Ones for mobile picks too.

What to avoid
Search for "Wild Ones download" and you'll find sites offering installers, hacks or "private servers". Be careful: the original game was never downloadable, so anything claiming to be the official Wild Ones client is fake. Stick to official stores like Steam, Google Play and the App Store, or a game's own website, and never enter your Facebook or Google password on a site that promises to restore your old account.
Frequently asked questions
Is Wild Ones on Steam?
The original Wild Ones was never on Steam. The "Wild Ones" you can find on Steam today, Wild Ones Battle Stadium and the upcoming Wild Ones Evolution, are unofficial fan remakes, not made by Playdom or Disney.
Can I play Wild Ones on my phone?
There was never an official Wild Ones app. On Android, the Wild Wars beta is the closest experience. You can also try the unofficial Wild Ones Battle Stadium, or similar games such as Wormix, Bowmasters and Tank Stars.
Can I get my old Wild Ones account back?
No. All accounts, pets, items and treats were stored on Playdom's servers, which were switched off in August 2013. No remake has access to that data.
Is there a Wild Ones private server?
Fans ran unofficial servers in the past, such as Wild Ones: Private Wars from 2016 to 2017, but they have all closed. Be careful with sites that promise a "Wild Ones download" or private server today: some are scams or bundle unwanted software.
Does Flashpoint have Wild Ones?
No. Flashpoint preserves Flash games that work offline, but Wild Ones was an online multiplayer game that needed Playdom's servers, so there is nothing for an archive to run.
